NOSEiD is a free Android app developed by Mars Incorporated. It falls under the lifestyle category and aims to provide a speedier and less stressful way to reunite lost dogs with their owners. The app uses specialized scanning technology to create a unique ID for each dog based on their nose print, which is as unique as human fingerprints. By scanning and saving this nose print, along with other information like the dog's name, size, gender, breed, and age, NOSEiD provides a faster way for other users to identify and help bring lost dogs home.
NOSEiD is designed specifically for dog owners and serves as an additional tool, alongside microchips and collars, to help identify and locate lost dogs. In the unfortunate event that your dog goes missing, the app provides step-by-step guidance on what to do to increase the chances of finding them.
This app also addresses the larger issue of lost pets in America, with nearly 10 million pets getting lost each year and only a small percentage finding their way home. NOSEiD aims to bring dog owners in the same community together to increase the chances of reuniting lost dogs with their owners. Additionally, it provides an easier way for people who find lost dogs to get in touch with their owners by checking if the dog belongs to another NOSEiD user. While currently only available in Nashville, the app keeps users outside the area updated on when it will launch in their neighborhood.
